Simple themed basing
This kind of basing works well for a group of miniatures following the same theme. Squads, regiments and even whole armies look great with little effort. A single piece of detail can make a world of difference to an otherwise plain base.
- Firstly, glue your miniature to the base. The way you attach your miniatures can vary from company to company. Some use a ‘slot’ design whilst others are glued on to the base by the bottom of the miniatures feet.
- Randomly place one or two resin pieces on the base. Have a play about re-arranging and replacing parts until you are happy with where you want them.
- Glue your resin parts onto the base and allow it to dry.
- Apply PVA to all other areas of the base, making sure you don’t get any glue on the actual miniature or the rim of the base.
- Sprinkle your desired core scatter material over the base and allow it to dry. I refer to core scatter as any scatter material that is added to an unpainted base (sand, granite, cork etc..). Grass flock and other foliage should be added in later stages.
- Shake off any excess scatter material and give your miniature a gentle brush down as some scatter material can leave a thin dusty layer. Now it’s ready to paint!
